East coast vibe 4S. Even his references and commentary he compares to East Coast teams. His negativity overwhelms the show. “I hate Syracuse, I hate everything about Southern CA”. And has already jumped on the negative side of our local teams. He hasn’t been around long enough to earn the right for that IMO. His interruptions of Christopher Kidd don’t let him get a thought out. Christopher needs to be heard with his fountain of info and great delivery. MJ picks needless arguments to make senseless points.
Greg Bell needs to be put back in place. Great local knowledge and a calmness about him. Seattle like.
Totally agree with the East Coast vibe that MJ gives off, but am I the only one here that swears that MJ sounds earrily similar to Mitch Levy;even the laugh!Uncanny!Great article Jim
Jim, here's my five-star review. I've also recommended that all my substack readers and followers read your prose. I've appreciated the candid thoughts you've shared recently.
Hey Buggy, good morning and thanks for reading. Brock’s a good guy. What I get a kick out of is how much they’ve invested in that show. And I do think it’s a good show but do the ratings reflect that 710 is making a good investment? I don’t think so. To come back to do daily sports radio, they must have offered Brock 200k or more. Salk makes more than 200k, I know that for sure. Then if you add in what Maura is making and the other producer, they have more than half a million invested in that show. I love Maura by the way, got a chance to work with her, she’s cool and whatever she’s making, it should be more.
I've only listened to a little of his show. He gives me Mike Salk vibes totally. Rarely listen to KJR much anymore because I feel like i'm listening to non-stop commercials with a little sports radio mixed in.
Found this article after trying (and failing) once again to tolerate MJ and his show. First thing he does this morning? Says we should all just calm down over Cal’s HR Derby because there was no “real” competition. Cool. He’s right in that there was no Judge, Shohei et al, but why shouldn’t we get excited and celebrate it? He’s a condescending host with a massive ego. He, as others have said, routinely cuts off his co-host(s) to get his point out, frequently butchers the English language, and I find him unlistenable. Miss hearing you on the air!

I feel your pain Jim. Been through something similar with my previous employer of 25 years. They had a plan for me but would have involved excruciating pain of kissing so much ass I would have had permanent pucker. No thanks and sayonara. It finally freed me up to doing what I always wanted to do and never had the balls to do it. I appreciate both you and Puck for whatever that’s worth..lol.

Hi Tracy, I’ll have to listen again, I didn’t pick up on that but others agree with you. Thanks for reading, have a good weekend.

Thanks Kevin, really appreciate that. Very nice of you.
Brock must be a helluva tolerant guy to get along with Salk. His positivity paired with Salk’s negativity almost makes their show listenable.

Hi Sean, yeah, sure seems like podcasts are the way to go since there aren’t ads like the endless ones on the radio. Thanks for reading.

After the Ryan Rowland-Smith comments, what do you make of MJ now?
