Hi Guillermo, good morning, Go Cougs. Yeah, if it was two or three days a week, I wouldn’t do it. I think I can handle one day a week for the next three months ‘til things die down in October. Thanks for reading.
Thanks Jim, and thanks for reading the P-I way back when. I planed to retire at the paper but the paper had to go and retire on me! Those years of covering the hydros were surprisingly fun for me. Took me back to when I was a kid when hydros Seafair was such a big deal every year along with the Torchlight Parade.
Love it Jim ! Couldn’t agree more about Sunriver, very sad. Quail is a hidden gem for sure. Being a started will show you the best and worst of golfers, but that’s kind of the beauty of it. Also, it sucks getting older, I’m falling apart as well.
PAC-am champ, sorry I missed you when you were here. I’ve only come across one jerk so far, stuffy guy, he was already upset about the group in front of them. “Did you see the shots they just hit?” he asked me. I thought, “yeah, I saw the shots they hit, they sprayed them everywhere but so what?” I hoped and prayed that he would hit a bad one too, but he didn’t.
I don’t think I ever missed one of your columns when you wrote for the P-I; even invited you down to the Dominican Republic when I lived there. Love you M-W-F with Puck, very seldom miss an episode.
Sounds like a sweet summer gig—just enough to fund the fun stuff without nibbling away at the nest egg. Have you crossed paths with any Substack readers or folks who know you from your glory days in the Puget Sound sports scene—radio waves, bylines, or both?
Jim you are hilarious! By the way, when you talk about work hours, don’t forget the fact that you spent many many hours watching various games because it was part of your job. You had to watch the games in order to report or write on them. So actually, your workday was probably a heck of a lot longer than eight hours. The difference being that hopefully watching the games was something that you got to enjoy too.🏀🏈⚾️⚽️ and best of all 🧶🤣🤣🤣
Hi Katie, good morning, yep, those were the days. I haven’t played Tam O’Shanter in decades but always liked the course and certainly remember where you lived. Have a good weekend.
Wouldn’t mind doing that job, Richard, but the few times I’ve seen a beverage cart “boy,” it’s always disappointing. Crazy that they don’t have a beverage cart, I don’t get it. Thanks for reading.
Jim, glad to hear you enjoyed your first day. I was doing some math and... well I'm glad to hear it's only Thursdays LOL Go Cougs.

Well done, Mr. Starter! Keep writing with your good humor and everyday topics. I’ve enjoyed your work back to P.I. days, Sonics, Cougs, hydros!

Jim, you'll be the best greeter in the world when you offer patrons a can of Coors Light. You'll go broke doing it, but it'll be good times
Hey Rich, the best part so far is NOT having to take beer away from anyone. Haven’t seen any coolers as yet. Go Cougs.
Such a great job! I remember when you and Chris Jeppeson would play golf past our home in Tam O Shanter! Those were the days!

Always a good feeling to make it through probation! Careful or you will be the beverage girl. Ha.
