Knowing both you and Kathy personally and socially, your description of Kathy personality is on point. Sounds like a douche bag move, if you ask me. I'm glad you wrote this piece and I hope the wind drifts it back their way. When you look back, it may have been for the best. Go Cougs!

Hey commish, Go Cougs, thanks for what you had to say here. Having some second thoughts, maybe even some third thoughts, we hurt someone we’re close to that works for the concert company so I don’t know, we’re just gonna let it go at this point. Hope you’re continuing to see progress from your knee replacement.

You have a solid suit on your hands. Reasonable Suspicion has a very specific protocol to follow and timeline for testing. None of which was followed. I’m not an attorney, but teach reasonable suspicion classes and no the laws and protocols. Go Cougs!

Go Cougs Jim, we thought about getting an attorney but thought better of it. It was a part-time job and didn’t seem to be worth pursuing legally to us anyway. Thanks for reading.

I feel you, Jim. My previous boss was over the top happy guy in the most obviously fake way until he got an opportunity to actually support you, then the real guy came out. I asked for a new office chair once to support my lower back and he literally brought me a broken chair. Like, in pieces. I asked if he was joking and he said I'd have to petition HR for an accomodation if I wanted a different one. I've dreamed of killing his goddamn pug ever since. Always support your wife. Go Cougs.

Hey Guillermo, good morning, Go Cougs, that didn’t seem like too much of a request by an employee to help with your back. You’d think he would have bent over backwards to help you out with that. Just think how appreciative you would have been if he had done that, you would have no doubt busted your butt at work to show your appreciation. Instead, you can’t stand the guy. Little thing that he should have handled differently.

What a crock…Bradley that is. Sounds like he’s packing some baggage.

I do suspect however and you are likely correct in terms of Katie unintentionally drawing attention to herself. Likely the biggest driver. If she had, likely like everyone else, just sat in the back of the room and twiddled her thumbs nothing would have come of it. Go Cougs!

My guess is this Brad guy got his wittle bitty feelings hurt over getting axed and decided to take it out on your wife. Any minute exercise of power would help to salvage his damaged ego. Live Nation might have issued the marching order but Brad was obviously happy to support it.

I probably would have played it safe in that situation and not called any extra attention to myself. But Kathie seems to be highly extroverted and people have to be true to themselves. I get that she was just trying to be helpful.

And I to laugh at the "go-getter who’s married to a no-getter" line. Your self-deprecation is hilarious as usual!

One more thing: don't be too hard on yourself regarding the occasional internet issues in Bend. Monday's Puck sports episode was still highly entertaining.

Thanks for your comments Jon, I guess the two things that bothered me the most were that he didn’t even let her explain her side of the story and he didn’t factor in her body of work, which was really good. As for Monday with Puck, it’s unbelievable to me. I feel like I’m the only damn person in the world with continuing Internet issues. I thought once I got set up at home with Wi-fi, I’d be good to go, but no. Apparently we live in a part of town where you can have occasional isssues. So now I’ve ordered an adaptor and an Ethernet cable to plug the damn thing into the modem. Assuming that will end the issues but guessing it somehow won’t. Thanks for listening, Jon.

What a crappy deal, Jim! I have a boss that’s always ready to give people a fit for duty piss test. I don’t even like being sleepy around the guy in the morning. He also says stupid shit like “hey, Aaron, I don’t pay you to stand around and talk” when I’m chatting with a coworker at the beginning of our shift. He’s said it before and just did on Friday and I put my hand on his shoulder and I sad “Actually, Lyle, you don’t pay anyone anything” I like letting dick bags know they’re dick bags. Fuck this Brad guy. Hope Kathie finds something she likes even better. Hopefully it’s a blessing in disguise. Go Dawgs, and sure… Go Cougs!

Hey Aaron, good morning, I hope Lyle reads this! Yeah, I just felt like Brad owed Kathie more than he gave her, like hearing her out and factoring in what a good employee she had been in the bigger picture. Suspend her if you have to, warn her that she’s on double secret probation, but don’t fire her. Oh well, we’re floating the river today and I don’t think guys like Brad will be on our minds. Nice to hear from you. Thanks for reading.

If a part time gig is important to your family income hire an attorney- you probably will not win but will feel better. Tough break, enjoyed your story. She may want to remain silent next time, especially for a job like that. Are you ever going to write about sports again? Your sad personal life is getting old. How about trying to bring Banana Ball to Bend? Go Cougs.

Good morning, yeah, I’ll get back to sports, in fact later this morning I’ll re-post a column that I wrote for the Tacoma News Tribune - a top 10 list of Seattle’s all-time sports radio shows. Thanks for your comments, fair point for sure.

My question is how would they know what you were doing before you were at work? And even if so, all you have to do is deny it. Problem solved.

Hi John, she told him and was honest about it. In hindsight maybe she should have denied it.

Guess I'm lucky I didn't get fired for having a two martini lunch on Fridays with my co-worker back in my corporate manager days. Things have really changed, back when lunches and golfing were team builders. I'm just wondering what constitutes team building these days? Being feed a constant drivel of corporate cheerleading phases? Participation in do nothing "bottom up" suggestion meetings? Good thing I'm not in that realm any longer, I'd be encouraging games like "who's not wearing any pants in the Zoom meeting?"... You know, "team building".

Hey Richard, good morning, I’m old enough to remember co-workers having a pop or two on their dinner breaks across the street. And coming back and lighting up another cigarette while they downed another cup of coffee. I loved that about our old newspaper office at the Post-Intelligencer. And certainly enjoyed the heck out of drinking while working at Edgar’s Cantina when we did shows there on 710 ESPN Seattle.

I too, have dealt with management like Brad. It would be great to win a "wrongful termination" lawsuit since she didn't violate anything in the 'rulebook', but finding a lawyer to take it on would be a pain. I'll bet there was some level of concern for Kathie getting attention for being good at her job that may have led to the initial complaint. Or something going on between Brad and the other employee. I've seen it before, there's almost always an ulterior motive even if it's just envy.

Hi Lisa, yeah, that’s part of it for me, just feeling like she deserved more of a break than she got based on what an asset she was an employee. Thanks for your comments.
