Whomever pulled the trigger on hiring the guy needs firing, too.

Thanks Jim, great stuff per usual, sir!

Marc James is terrible. I've tried to listen and my ears bleed every time. 100% downgrade from the old Puck and Jim show. Marc James tries to be a shock jock only he has no talent. I will tune in when he leaves.

I was listening to that shitshow on my drive yesterday. Mocking someone’s accent is a new low for a guy who was already a total douchebag. Add that to his endless long, boring accounts of his dating failures. Nobody cares about your personal life, you cretan.

You know what to do, KJR. Looking forward to his exit from Seattle’s best sports radio station. Soon would be good! 👋🏼

What a dick.

I've always had a bit of a hard time understanding smith too but appreciate his knowledge, insight and professionalism and wouldn't want anyone else occupying that space.

Hopefully that bozo's ratings are terrible (I have no idea what they are) , he's a prick to everyone else at the station (highly likely) and this rant/ attack is the last straw for whomever has the authority to fire Rich Moore and that east coast dumbass.

This kind of dickish edgelord schtick is depressingly common in the sports media landscape around the country; it would speak will of Seattle fans if it doesn't fly here.

Any attention is good attention for this schmuck. Time will tell if he took it too far according to the decision makers. Making fun of someone’s accent and name calling when you’re supposed to be a professional has become acceptable too often these days.

I can’t listen to 60 seconds of Marc James, and that was before all this went down. He substitutes shock for knowledge. He has no knowledge. So he really has no choice. BTW, I also don’t want to have drinks with him so I expect he will assault me on X or whatever other social media platform he spews on. Put Puck and Jim back on. Go Dawgs

100%. MJ is a classic case of someone who thinks shouting + confidence = intelligence.

I was elated when KJR came to FM. The station was always on the radio in my car and on my radio at work. Now, I change the station @ 10am. I gave the "mouth" a chance for a couple weeks, but can not stomach his know it all attitude. KJR made a horrible mistake with this hire. I wonder what James got fired for back east.

They make it sound like this is a one time incident. I've heard KJR mock Smiths accent in the past. While I'm at it KJR needs to up their game. Some of these guys sound like high school drop outs. Nobody cares about your home life, or what pizza you like etc. How about something interesting to the "Seattle Sport Fan" that is tuning in. Maybe daily segments on statistics for our local teams.

Statistics? Go listen to KIRO bud. Or start your own radio show if it's so easy.

Love when people complain about free content 🙄

I do listen to KIRO and i'm not your bud, and I never in my opinion said running a radio station was easy.

i miss Puck and Jim sooo much. Jim made me laugh more than any other sports writer or radio guy ever. I always felt like Jim was so genuine, like an everyman functional degernerate like me. Miss you Jim. Eat a fat D Marc James

Jim, captain Bill here from the Bering Sea, I luv Rowland-Smith and have no problem with his accent, listening to him brings joy! And wishing I was traveling. Rizz may be the nicest man on the planet but he was let go after replacing the great Ernie Harwell for a reason and we got him back…. Tolerance! Ps Jim have you ever tracked Coach Willingham since your PI days? Ahhh the state of College sports today leaves much to be desired

Marc James has been a weird and uncomfortable fit for KJR. It's strange to hear a host be mostly negative on KJR (and I listened in 2008) and never circle back to some sort of optimism. I would say there were times you and Puck were a little too cynical for me, but it usually revolved around something legitimately crappy. I'm just hoping that MJ being shouty and aggressive for no reason won't last long on KJR.

Are you really that weak? You do realize that realism doesn't equate to negativity. Have you ever listened to Easter Coast sports radio?

I think that there is a difference between being critical and being negative just to have a talking point. I've heard East coast sports radio and I think it's all the same copy and paste loud "hot" takes with New York accents. No knock if that is what people are into, I just think that's a weird fit for a KJR mid day show.

From what I've witnessed of Seattle sports fans is that they have a hard time distinguishing between the two. Why do you believe KJR is different from any other part of the country? Did you not listen to KJR in the 90's?

Expand full comment
Robert Rowe's avatar

I started listening to KJR a mere 20 years ago so I can't speak to the 90's. What I can speak to is that I am a Seattle sports fan. If someone has legitimate gripes about things I listen and reflect on what they say. But if their gripes are forced or baseless, then I turn the channel. Which is what I do from 10am-1pm every weekday. When it was Jim and Puck, I listened because they were credible and didn't force opinions just for the sake of making a dramatic opinion.

Also, unlike MJ, Puck and Jim didn't repeat over and over "I hate to say it" when they were shouting their terrible sports takes. That guy says "I hate to say it" about 50 times a show.

Marc James should really understand the person Ryan is and what he does for thr community before trashing someone on the radio, last summer my son attended the Mariners baseball camp at Cheney stadium put on by next generation sports and Ryan himself. My point is the guy spent half the day at Cheney stadium with hundreds of kids teaching them how to be good kids as well as baseball players . The kids had his absolute full attention the whole time. Also he was doing mariners games every day in Seattle after the camp. His dedication to baseball and kids is incredible. To belittle someone because of they're accent is pretty classless. No the man before you publicly bash him Marc James

I guess belittle was not the proper word, my mistake. But his comments on how Ryan talks and pronounces words for American baseball broadcast were distasteful. It was enough to come on air the next day to issue an apology.Hopfully it was sincere.i don't personally know mark but I felt his comments were unwarranted
